Beth received her Ph.D. in counseling psychology in 1985 from Washington State University, Pullman, WA. Since that time she has been a clinician at University of Idaho and Washington State University Counseling Center. In 1991, Beth began working in private practice and has been a licensed psychologist since that time. Following the death of her husband, Beth has been exploring a more ‘wellness based’ practice, which has led her to the fields of positive psychology and coaching. As concerns over client confidentiality, diagnostic codes in medical records have occupied more and more of Beth’s personal and political time, she decided to abandon the medical model and her relationship with insurance companies and persue coaching full time.
Coaching differs from traditional psychotherapy in a variety of ways. Primarily, confidentiality is ASSURED, the partnership is collaborative, and the focus in on identifying and capitalizing on the STRENGTHS of the person being coached. There is no third party involved in the coaching relationship, so any concerns about confidentiality are moot.
Beth’s coaching involves both individual sessions as well as group sessions. The benefit of the coaching model is that it is not pre determined by geographical location. Coaching is done via telephone and can be utilized by people who are not geographically “close.”
Prior to Beth’s husband’s untimely death, her “coach” lived over 1500 miles away, and continues to be Beth’s coach to this day. Beth has recieved training thru the Mentor Coach program from experts all over the United States thru the use of teleconferencing…
Please, if you are interested in contacting Beth for coaching services, feel free to drop her an email and request a 30 minute sample session at no charge.
Keep checking back for other services. In the near future Beth will be offering Happiness Boot Camp groups via teleconference. Just imagine the delight in participating in a coaching session in bunny slippers with a steamy cup of tea…never having to leave the house.
